The Vinschgau is a valley very rich in tradition. Many places of cultural interest, monasteries, castles and churches are well preserved and worth seeing (monastery Marienberg, Churburg, the medieval town of Glurns and the Benediktskirche). Customs are maintained and celebrated since the year dot. (Stilfser Kloosen, Suldner Krampusse, “Scheibenschlagen“ - glowing wooden discs are hurled down mountain-slopes into the valley with the aid of sticks, processions, folk dances, “Almabetriebe” – the cattle are brought from the Alpine meadows down to the cowsheds in the valley...)
